Saining is the Scots word for blessing or consecration. These saining bundles are made using herbs native to my ancestral homeland of Europe. I do not call the act of burning herbs for ritual purposes “smudging” because that is a sacred Indigenous North American concept, and I am European. The act and intention itself, however, is universal.
