Block request for User:TheDivineLinguist
TheDivineLinguist (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log) persistently uploads copyvio. Indeffed on enwiki. Polomo (talk) 20:21, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
Done. I warned the user. All uploads are deleted. Taivo (talk) 17:19, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
Unicode data semi-protection
This discussion was archived without a proper resolution. tl;dr all of the data files under Category:Unicode Module Datasets should definitely be at the very least indefinitely semi-protected, either directly or through some indirect means, because of their (very) high visibility. — SURJECTION / T / C / L / 21:11, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- Looking at that discussion, it looks like we want to protect at the template editor level, but the user who requested protection has not gotten around to requesting that level of rights. - Jmabel ! talk 00:35, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
- Protecting at the template editor level is fine too, at least for some of the data, but we shouldn't leave them unprotected until we get that sorted out. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. — SURJECTION / T / C / L / 17:47, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
Done all protected at template editor level. That was tedious, we really ought to have a tool for mass protection. - Jmabel ! talk 21:24, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Jmabel Why? 😭 ToncianTaien (talk) 03:31, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- Change it back to semi-protection right now! 😡 BashBuilder (talk) 05:01, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry, I thought the conclusion at the linked discussion was that this should be protected at template editor level, and that certainly was my read of Surjection's request here. BashBuilder I will accept your interpretation and lower this to autopatrollers. Certainly no one below that level should be messing with these. This is going to take me another half-hour or so. If someone wants this changed yet again after that, ask someone other than me. - Jmabel ! talk 05:12, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
Done - Jmabel ! talk 05:45, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you! I will upload files with Creative Commons and become an autopatroller soon. ToncianTaien (talk) 06:06, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- Me too! I will upload over 1000 images with Creative Commons. BashBuilder (talk) 06:13, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- These two accounts are almost certainly operated by the same person who has socked extensively on en.wikt, but that's a whole another subject... — SURJECTION / T / C / L / 08:59, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Surjection Those 2 accounts are not a sockpuppet in en.wiktionary.org. BiggCooker (talk) 13:56, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- Nevermind, one of their accounts was blocked here too. Maybe a Commons CU could look at it. (I suspect the account that responded to me above is them, too. I've had to block dozens of their socks on en.wikt alone.) — SURJECTION / T / C / L / 23:03, 19 August 2025 (UTC)

- I deleted the vanity photos, but they were not at all new: they predate the NONHOST warning he received. The only one more recent is File:Twister Faery Esports.png. He seems to be trying to write an article, though I don't see any sign of him successfully demonstrating encyclopedic notability. There may be a problem here of not properly understanding what is or isn't notable enough for Wikipedia, but that isn't vandalism, and doesn't particularly look to me like it merits anything more than further warnings and/or explanations, which someone is welcome to give. - Jmabel ! talk 03:29, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- "[....] successfully demonstrating encyclopedic notability" - spoken bluntly, there's an absence of something to demonstrate, actually, only a lot of conflict with en:WP:COI. This twister thingy, used on en:User:RedLeafHimel/sandbox, is IMHO simply an advertising tool or also a vanity expression, as the very first sentence on the sandbox currently shows (I just tagged in on EN-WP with CSG G11 "unambiguous advertising"): "Twister Faery Esports is a Bangladeshi esports organization founded by Al Samiul Himel (also known as REDLEAF) in 2025." Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 05:40, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- I basically agree, and it's fine that you went after it on en-wiki; I usually try not to presume, on Commons, what a given Wikipedia will determine, even if I'm pretty sure I can guess. - Jmabel ! talk 20:53, 18 August 2025 (UTC)

Semi protection for my talk page
Hello, there is a LTA sockpuppeteer that started to include my user talk page in their vandalism spree (see 1, 2, 3), so I would like to request semi-protection for my user talk page for maybe a week or more. Thanks. Tvpuppy (talk) 16:23, 18 August 2025 (UTC)

Upload protection of File:Flag of Yemen.svg

- Discussing the issue of colors in talk page of file now. Abzeronow (talk) 00:43, 21 August 2025 (UTC)
Done Reverted to the last version before the revert war started and put under full protection. Happy to add alternate colorschemes to the see also section, but even if consensus forms for a specific version and the file is changed, this isn't a file that should be unprotected. Semi protected Commons:AbuseFilter
Hi. I want you to semi protect the page named Commons:AbuseFilter. Also, please adjust: edit = auto confirmed users, move = autopatrollers. We should let them protected until 00:00, January 1, 2027. BashBuilder (talk) 09:26, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
- Why? Commons:AbuseFilter is a redirect which has never been edited since creation. Btw, what was your previous account? I can't remember... --Achim55 (talk) 09:54, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
- Oops… I mean Commons:Abuse filter.
Reason: Prevent vandalism IPS. BashBuilder (talk) 12:47, 20 August 2025 (UTC)will do. Almost no legitimate edits, fair amount of reverted vandalism. - Jmabel ! talk 16:26, 20 August 2025 (UTC)- Nope. Level of protection is already edit = autoconfirmed, move = administrators. So this would be a lowering of protection. - Jmabel ! talk 16:30, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
- Oops… I mean Commons:Abuse filter.
